Q: How do we get a rough idea what the project is going to cost?
A: It is true that a project can have a fairly wide range of prices, depending on the hundreds of variables and specifics involved in building a home. To get a ballpark idea of the cost range for your ideas, call. We can discuss ranges and generalities to get you started planning. |
Q: If we give you our budget, can you tell us what we can get for that price?
A: That is one way to reach a plan that is right for you. Another way is to start by looking at your list of “needs and wants” and prioritizing them. You may not be able to accomplish everything on your list right away, but planning for some long-term or second-phase additions now may save money later. |
Q: Why are some builders cheaper?
A: It is usually because they build houses as a second job, or they cut corners to lower the price. Some builders don’t even have General Liability Insurance. |
Q: Why is it better to use a full time contractor?
A: Full time contractors know more about building a quality house and are more familiar with the building codes. They also have regular subcontractors they use and can get any future problems or needs taken care of in a timely manner. |
Q: Why is General Liability Insurance important?
A: If you should have some kind of a major problem in the future due to a mistake made during construction, then your insurance will most likely not pay the claim. The liability then falls back on your Builder. If he does not have the money to fix your problem you are stuck with paying for your own repairs. If the builder has General Liability it will pay for the damage. |
Q: Do I need to hire an architect?
A: We would recommend you have a set of plans before scheduling an appointment to visit our office. |
Q: Do I have to worry about building codes and permits?
A: No, we take care of that for you. Applying for permits and making sure the project meets all local and state codes is part of our responsibility. We take this responsibility very seriously and play an active role in working with communities to ensure the homeowners’ best interests are met. |
Q: How long will it take?
A: Of course, that depends on the project. When we provide an estimate and proposal we also include an estimate of time required. Unexpected delays, due to weather or product availability can occur, but we keep the homeowner informed every step of the way. |
Q: Do I have to pay for the whole project up front?
A: No. We do require a deposit, then we discuss terms for the final payment. |
